In Fairy Tales the most important message is the fact that all these mystical creatures have been torn from their home land and they want to go back. All the characters are now living in modern day New York. This is very uncomfortable and makes these fairy tale characters feel unhappy with their lives because everything is totally different.
When you first think fairy tales you think of all these magical creatures and characters living in these wonderful kingdoms and being happily ever after. I pictured them all living happily ever after, but never thought of how they would be if things took a turn in their lives. For example in the comic book the big bad wolf is no longer blowing down little piggy's houses which is in his nature!. Instead he is living with a pig in his apartment, trying to make up for the fact that he tried to kill the pig and feels guilty. He's not even a wolf for that matter instead he has to look like a grown man to adapt to his new city and life as a detective in fable town. It seems as though the wolf likes his career, but he doesn't seem to happy about the fact he can't hunt and do the vicious things he could do before. Also when Bluebeard is attacking Jack in the cell you see this big bad wolf go from a tough man to a large wolf that you would see only in fairy tale land not New York. Which meant that none of these characters could actually walk around in their very own skin because their in modern day and animals don't roam around the city of New York so it's basically like their wearing a mask all the time. This is a horrible thing because they always have to hide and they can't truly live like this forever.
Not only were these fairy tale characters torn from their land and had to live in modern day New York, but they were almost all torn from their riches and lands making them from wealthy people to almost middle class people. Losing all their riches changed a lot of the fairy tale characters. For instance Beauty and the Beast who owned a whole land with a beautiful castle had to leave that all behind and begin to get accommodated with not having none of their riches. This made Bell very frustrating to be around, and caused the beast to slowly start turning from a human to the beast he was before. Also Prince Charming who was one of the riches princes around was so poor he had to try to go ahead and bail out on a restaurant bill. Not only that but many of these characters had to go work off in bad jobs like cleaning floors and apartment complexes just like little boy blue. All of these fairy tale characters have become cheaters also Prince charming and Jack from Jack and the beanstalk. Both of these guys try to scam other fairy tale characters just to get back millions, and they don't care who their stealing from. Although Jack has always been a scam, but this time he gets arrested for it. In fairy world Jack could get away from the Giant and run away with the magic beans, but the big bad wolf put him in his place in fables. Being close to broke made these fairy tale characters desperate and begin to do things every man for himself.
At the end of the day all the fairy tale characters had to accommodate to New York and they faced many challenges doing so. Many of these characters changed who they really where.

Cinderella Today . . .
So if Cinderella lived in this time period things would be different. For once her step mother would be in jail for child neglect and child abuse. Second of all she would probably be the pretty nerdy girl in school. The way I picture Cinderella is mostly like the movie Cinderella by Hilary Duff. A humble teenager that has only one best friend and has no one to go too. She probably wouldn't have a boyfriend but a crush on a guy that doesn't notice her.

Runaways
Runaways has three main plot points. All three plot points are very important. They help us figure out who these characters are really, who their parents really are, and the adventure they go through.
The first plot point is when Aleks mentiomns that his parents have a secret passage way and that they should check it out. The teens being curious go ahead and look at it and only to discover trouble.

little red riding hood & sex ??!? o.O
In graphic novels we read three different types of The Little Red Riding Hood the fairy tale, the trailer, and the comic book version. In all versions some sort of sexuality was observed. Many people say Little Red Riding Hood is about sex. This idea sounds very crazy and obscured, but many hints and details in all three types of literature show it.
In the fairy tale many parents have a different view on the story and many say it's about sex. I believe a parent may see that because all fairy tales have a lesson. In the fairy tale little red riding hood is a innocent little girl that goes to visit her sick grandmother deep in the woods. As she makes this journey through the forest she wears a long red cloak that covers her from head to toe. In addition her mother warns little red not to talk to any strangers and not to leave the path. Little red mothers warning is a typical message every parent gives to their child, "don't talk to strangers." This message is important because no parent wants their child to talk to someone they don't know because this stranger can harm their child and no parent wants to see their child hurt. In addition "stay on the path" is another message a parent tells his or her child because no parent wants their child to go and get lost and they'll never see them again. Just these two messages help convey the idea of parents thinking little red riding hood is about sex because of boys "the wolf" trying to prey in little girls " little red riding hood ."
Although the fairy tale has a message about sex the trailer I saw Little Red Riding Hood has even more details on how this once known fairy tale is some what about sex. In the trailer Little Red wears a beautiful long red hood and red lipstick. It has been proven that the color red is very attractive and sensual for women to lure in men. The girl in the trailer has this sweet voice and this innocent face that helps contribute to this wolf wanting her. In normal eyes a woman wearing lets say a red dress with red lipstick is trying to captivate the attention of a male. Therefore making this story about sex. All the things this girl wears in a trailer leads to a guy that will try to either rape or have sex with her because its almost as though she is teasing him. The wolf attacks the girl in the story, but in normal eyes he doesn't just eat her he tries to have intercourse with her. Just the amount of red she wears makes it seem sexual because it's almost like Red is the color of passion, lust, and love.
So the fairy tale and the trailer both show how the story has to do with sex now the comic book really shows some sort pof sexual attempts made by the wolf and little red. The little red talks to the wolf in such a friendly tone almost as if they was flirting. Flirting almost always leads to sexual behavior. Besides the friendly talking the wolf tries to get little red into bed with him ! he keeps insisting she comes closer and crawls in with him. This type of behavior tells any parent SEXUAL behavior. The wolf represents a guy who tries to talk sweetly to a little girl and then lure her into bed. The wolf is also represented as a animal making the girl know he's most likely aggresive and dangerous. This type of things is something all parents try to warn their daughters about bad boys that will try to hurt them.
All in all after seeing all versions of The little red riding hood I truly believe this story is about sex.

Goldilocks vs Goldiloxs o_0
The original fairy tale of Goldilocks and the three bears is a very innocent tale compared to the version in the novel Enchanted. In the original fairy tale Goldilocks accidentally runs into the three bears house and eats their porridge, breaks their chairs, and sleeps on all their beds. All this is done normally and pleasant and entertaining for children to read. The whole fairy tale in enchanted is messed up though. I come to see that Goldiloxs is taken in as a captive. " Hit her again " is how the scene begins. Never in a million years would you think this blond headed woman is Goldilocks because in the fairy tale she is merely but a child. The Goldiloxs in this story though is being hit repeatedly and is acting very sarcastic " My dead grandma hits harder than you " is what she tells them. It's so crazy how this Enchanted story goes because in the fairy tale she is discovered by three bears, but in the novel instead of three bears you get one big guy that looks like three bears have been put inside of him. Goldilox asks the guy " what took you so long " and then explains to her abusers this is her surprise. Which is CRAZY because how does the author of the novel take an innocent little girl Goldilocks who makes a little mistake of destroying some ones home to a beat down woman who seems to be in war and taking a crazy adventure destroying anything that is trying to hurt her. Both fairy tale and novel are totally diffrent even what the girls wear ! and their surroundings is unbelieveable. I think the only reason the author chose to twist this fairy tale up was to show the magic fairy tale characters have and how it was all sugar coated for us as children, but now he's trying to make a twist of his own to show us now as teenagers how crazy fairy world can actually get.
The diffrence between Goldilocks and Goldilox is Goldilocks is a child innocent and friendly while Goldilox is a woman, strong and surrounded by a world of violence. The author of the fairy tale portrays Goldilocks as sweet and kind and some what humble. Goldilox is violent and obnoxious and all gorwn up.

The fairy tale characters in the novel
In the novel you see Jack in the beanstalk, Little red riding hood, Pinochio, Hensel and Gretel, and last but not least Goldilocks. The only way to realize who each character is, is by looking at what their wearing. For example Red riding hood is wearing a red hood. In addition Jack and the bean stalk had magic beans, Goldilocks has the bright yellow hair and Hensel calls out for Gretel like always. The way all the characters are portrayed always gives you a hint of who each character is.

Three Plot points
Runaways is a very good novel. its full of mystery and excitement actually. There's a group of six family's that meet every year once a year to talk about " charity " or so the children think. One main plot point is when the children first uncover that Alex's parents have a secret passage way. As soon as these kids see this " curiosity killed the cat " took place. The children end up going and seeing exactly what their parents do at the meetings, the six parents killed a young girl. As soon as they did that the kids started going crazy. The second plot point was when they went to Gertrude's house and uncovered that her parents also have a secret passage way and a dinosaur for her as a pet. The third plot point was when they went to Karolina's house, but there was no secret passage way in this house, instead what they found was that Karolina's parents have left behind a will. The children convince Karolina to take off this bracelet she's been wearing since she was a baby. When the bracelet comes off Karolina begins to fly and transform and everyone stands there looking very shocked.

Clarks age and Powers ?
Pa' kent is unsure about Clark's age and power because Clark isn't really their baby. Pa' found Clark inside a rocket with out a single scratch on him. Pa' knows Clark isn't like all other boys, he knows Clark has powers that are beyond normal human understandings. The fact that Clark has these powers worries Pa' because he doesn't know how Clark is going to use his powers. Pa' alsp fears how people will react to superman and his ability to do things others can't.
If Mayra was Superwoman (;
As superwoman I'd like to have the ability to not age as fast as others. I dont want to age as fast as other because I want to be young for as long as I can and be able to see the world transform and see technology and science grow. In addition I would be able to meet new people and have a long life that also means I would have a lot of adventures. Although not aging as fast as others can be fun it can also be horrible to live like that. For example if I age slower than others i would have to see the people I love the most die before me which means I would probably end up alone for a while. Also I would probably have to deal with the fact that people around me are all going to leave me alone.

Five paragraph essay
The Witch and The Wolverine are two interesting comic books that have many similarities and many differences. The violent action in both novels portrays a good imaginary picture of how a teenager and a grown man use two different types of powers to protect themselves and the ones they love. The way both authors use color to show the mood of the scene help figure out what might happen next and how much blood is being drawn. The shadows drawn on each character shows the journey the characters are both going through, the journeys are full of both main characters getting attacked by villains. Also the panels help you see exactly when an important event is happening, or the best part of the comic books.
The Witch portrays much violence and shows a new side to witches and how their world and how their powers work. The way the author constructs the panels for Witch is truly cool, The panels are able to show how Kailey's familiar Riley talks to her inside of her head. Also she gets a double sided panel because she is two different people at one time, she just doesn't realize it until she unleashes her inner black cat. The Wolverine is able to show that although he speaks about himself as a guy who has no mercy when it comes down to the woman he loves he will do anything to try and protect her. Although in both these novels the main characters try to do good in other peoples eyes they are not normal. The difference in both novels would be how their journeys begin and how they end. In Kailey's journey she begins not knowing who she really is and as the novel progresses she finds out shes a witch. In one of the panels the author shows how Kailey wakes up telling herself it was only a nightmare and shes in the brightness of her kitchen and all of a sudden a dark shadow steps in front of her and all Kailey does is looks in a very shocked manner. The panel for wolverine shows when wolverine first comes to encounter Mariko and her husband walks in and with out mercy wolverine claws come out and hes ready to attack him. The author makes this panel larger than the rest to show how much of a fighter wolverine is.
The author for Witch shows a great variety of color to show feelings, action, and big moments. For example in one of the panels Kailey is going back home with her friend, and her friend is drunk and Kailey goes ahead and looks at a guy and a girl arguing the guys is about to attack the girl and Kailey steps in and goes and tells the guy to stop. At that moment the whole alley turns pitch black. The only thing your able to see is Kailey on the floor and the guy ready to hit her. The fact that the whole room turns a dark color represents that something bad is going to happen at the moment. In addition in one scene the sun is rising and Kailey is sitting outside watching it thinking, and the surrounding gets very bright almost as though something positive was about to happen. The author uses a yellowish orangeish color to go ahead and be over Kailey's body which make Kailey smile and you know her smiling is a good thing. In the wolverine the wolverine is in a dark alley and all of a sudden a bunch of guys come, with out hesitating the wolverine attacks and the author changes the whole room black. The only white you see is the dead guys bodies. The colors do help me figure out when a good or bad thing is going to happen.
Shadows in comic books are very common. The way Riley is drawn as Kaileys shadows

wolverine
Wolverine is a half human half wolf. He is a very violent person that doesn't have any trouble going and killing others. He has no mercy for others and destroys almost anything or anyone that's in his way. For example in the beginning of the book hes in a bears cave and all of a sudden he begins attacking the bear and begins to slice it limb from limb. Although wolverine has a very violent side when it comes down to the woman he loves he gets very sensitive and peaceful about her. For instance when he begins to see that Mariko isn't responding he goes off to Japan and tries to find her. As hes on the plane hes looking at all the letters and looking at a picture of her and speaks about how much he loves her.

Witch
Witch is a story full of shocking surprises, Witch is not your typical story that you thought it would be. In the beginning I thought Kylie was your typical crazy tomboy trying to figure herself out. Kylie seemed like a nobody that didn't have friends and her life was a complete drag. The first scene to surprise me completely was when Kylie first summons Riley to attack that guy when he had first thrown her onto the floor and was getting ready to beat her up. This scene really shocked me because I thought Kylie was crazy and would just talk to herself, but when the voice inside her said " let me out " I was really shocked. I was shocked because when this voice inside her head showed itself it looked like a monster that was being unleashed. Riley looked like a monster you only see in your nightmares so for Kylie to have Rylie such a scary looking monster as her familiar was really shocking because I expected a girl looking familiar. Another scene that surprised me was when Kylie and Riley were in the roof and all of a sudden Aaron comes with his familiar Lucy and for the first time Kylie finds out she is a witch. This surprised me because now I learned that their was a world full of witches and familiars.
Two reasons these scenes are similar is because both these scenes show that Riley doesn't really know herself fully. In the first scene she doesn't realize who she is speaking to inside her head she just thinks shes plain crazy. She doesn't think Riley is an imaginary friend or her conscious. Kylie just thinks she has problems and that's why she has no friends. In the other scene she doesn't even fully realize shes a witch until Riley tells her who she is and how they have to stick together and the Aaron confirms this. Both these scenes were able to show that Kylie doesn't know much about herself, but she is learning about who she is and whee she came form thanks to her familiar and Aaron. A reason both these scenes are different is because in one scene Kylie finds out who she sorta is and what her powers are capable of doing. In the other scene Kylie is just told by Aaron who she is and therefore in one scene she learns her powers and in the next she is told about he history of how her power came to be.

Imaginary buddy :)
An imaginary friend is something you create in your head, its almost like a conscious, some little voice in your head that tells you right from wrong. An imaginary friend is a friend or anything you can only see because your the one that creates this buddy, so only you know exactly what it looks like. A reason some people have imaginary friends ( like Chris ) is because you don't have any friends and you feel alone in the world so therefore they create someone or something who will speak to you and tell you what you want to hear. In addition the parents cant see Lisa because they probably dont have a good imagination and they dont believe in imaginary friends because their too old. Lisa used to exist, but I now believe shes dead and thats the main reason the parents dont believe in her because their not able to see this ghostly child.

Jaws
Analyzing the scene I can tell it is very scary. One thing that can contribute to it being scary is the dark night back round the director portrays to show. You can also tell things are about to get scary when the girl is screaming and the boy isn't moving to go help her while she is being attacked in the dark by something no one can see. Also the fact that she is desperatly trying to save herself by clinging onto the buoy and she just gets ripped off of it. What's even more scary is when she disappears into the dark water and doesn't come back down.

Compare and Contrast
Night dance and 30 days of Halloween are similar in the fact they both torture people, but totally different in the way they do it. Night dance is a legendary horror that comes at Halloween to torture people, Micheal Mayer's is a serial killer, and many people die at once when ever he comes back. 30 nights of Halloween is a story in Alaska that, their are strange things happening on a cold night, and Vampires seem to be making their way to town.
Both stories represent the way people horrifically die in the hands of serial killers and Vampires. For instance in Night Dance Micheal Myers is a legendary serial killer that comes back every Halloween to torture and kill many people. Myers kills random people because he has problems. Unlike 30 days Halloween the vampires come out of no where and begin to attack people. The thing with Myers is that everyone knows his story, but with the vampires nobody knows what they are or what it is that they exactly want.
One thing both these graphic novels have in common is that both these novels contain violence that can be made to normal people by unwanted guest.

Jenifer is a Parasite !
Jenifer is clearly a parasite. For instance it shows that Jenifer preys on others and eats both people and animals, the first thing that showed Jenifer is a parasite is when she first attacks Jim's wife and bites her. When Jenifer took a bite of her arm it showed she was very hungry and obviously wasn't a creature from this world. Another incident was when Jenifer had eaten the kitten and then had thrown the body in boiling water. In addition the author showed this girl was a parasite because when Jim had sent that guy over to go ahead and kidnap her, when Jim came home and opened his refrigerator a mans body came out with a lot of his guts hung out and all you see is Jenifer behind him staring at him. In these three scenes the author was able to show that Jenifer in fact is a parasite that feeds on other organisms to satisfy her hunger. Jenifer basically lives off her host which is Jim in order to get her food. Close to the last scene a child goes missing and as soon as Jim comes to see this he immediately goes home to find that Jenifer is eating a child's insides and drinking his blood. This was the last thing to convince me that Jenifer is a parasite that uses Jim as her host.

Jenifer is able to be seen as a parasite because in the very beginning Jim states that " I should have known i was beginning to act irrationally " which means that through out the story Jenifer was able to get into Jim's mind and control everything that started to happen. Jenifer basically lives off her host which is Jim in order to get her food. Close to the last scene a child goes missing and as soon as Jim comes to see this he immediately goes home to find that Jenifer is eating a child's insides and drinking his blood, this scene is able to prove that Jenifer uses Jim to go ahead and get food, because she knows she has a house to go back too and eat her prey and she also knows Jim wont tell. This was the last thing to convince me that Jenifer is a parasite that uses Jim as her host. Jenifer stays with Jim because she needs him as her "host" because she needs to get her food but in the end when Jim is done hiding her and having many problems with her and wants to kill her Jenifer immediately causes an ironic twist to happen in the end. The same way that Jim saved Jenifer from the previous guy that was going to kill her, another random guy came and saved her when Jim was just about to get rid of her.

Isolation
The author shows how isolated Jim feels through out the story. He shows it first when Marge leaves Jim and Jim stares at her through out the window looking at her not even attempting to stop her because he knows he wont be able to stop her. He begins to shed tears and the whole back round behind him suddenly gets dark. The author made me feel as though Jim was isolated because he looked heart broken and all alone as he sat in front of that window and watched his family leave in a rainy gray day. In addition when Jenifer climbs into bed with Jim and Jim doesn't want her but she forces herself onto him. All of a sudden when she does that he author gives us a roof top view of how dark that room gets and how helpless Jim is and feels.
Jenifer smells like ...
I strongly believe that Jenifer smells like a decomposed body. She most likely smells like a body that was murdered and left on the side of the road for days. I bet she does smell like that because she eats human beings. She eats a lot of peoples insides and drink their blood too, after she eats she doesn't clean up after herself. Also Jenifer has eaten animals so she doesn't smell good.

Jenifer ...
First of all Jenifer is not cool, it's creepy ! -__-. Second Jim stayed with her because one nobody else would take her and two this 'girl' would give him the puppy eyes which made him feel bad. Also I believe Jim stays with her because Jim has no where to go at the time and he doesn't want his life to change. Jenifer stays with Jim because she is a monster and she doesn't know any better. Also these aren't relationships these are just poor men that get stuck with a monster they can't get rid of. They are together because she's just using him in order for her to get food. This 'girl' doesn't know right from wrong she's just concerned with getting food in her system and what is okay to her is a crime to society. I believe Jim also stays with her because of her body and he got very lonely after his family left him.

Assesment on Despair
The Crow is a story about Despair. All the actions that Eric does through out the story helps the reader see how Eric is in despair. Eric used to be a very happy guy that had everything together, and was in love with his soon to be bride Shelly. One day Eric's car broke down in the middle of the road and while he was busy trying to fix it, a couple of guys came and started causing trouble. Eric denied them when they asked for help and for some reason things went from bad to worse. The guys ended up shooting Eric in the head and killing him on the spot ... or so they thought, they also killed Shelly too. Eric wasn't really dead he actually saw all the guys that killed his Shelly. From that moment on Eric started to plan and get revenge and he went into despair.
Eric got a cat named Gabriel and used to talk to him when ever he was home. In Scene five of The Crow, Gabriel is playing with a Christmas ornament and Eric takes it from Gabriel's paw and starts speaking about his last Christmas with Shelly. He tells Gabriel to go away because he makes him smile a lot and Eric isn't used to smiling anymore because most of his life has turned into tragedy. He then lays down on the couch and remembers walking into his house and seeing Shelly and exchanging gifts with her. He also remembers how he couldn't stop smileing for second and then it was all gone again once they christmas ornament fell to the ground and shattered. Another scene in scene five was when Eric was sitting down in his empty living room and began to think back to a particular day when he came home and was just staring at Shelly and Shelly asked him " what's wrong?" and Eric looked at her and told her how much he loves and adores her and how he would never let anything bad happen to her. After remembering this he gets angry and sad and pulls out a knife and slits his wrist in a couple of diffrent ways. Eric lets his blood drip and acts as if this is a way to let go of a memory that is long far gone.

Mayra's third blog
Eric and the bird continue the long tradition of the raven bird. The raven represents bad news and when ever people see this black bird they fear for the worst. In some cultures the raven represents death. For example in the crow the raven speaaking to Eric at first watches all the evil, sick, twisted things that Eric does in order to get revenge. Also in some traditions the raven is looked upon as a good bird that helps other. In some scenes of the crow actually tries to speak to Eric and convince him out of doing some things. In addition the raven helps Eric when ever he needs it and it talks to him. The raven is also looked upon as a trickster that tricks you to get what he wants. In the novel The crow the raven tricks Eric into remembering things that make him be at peace. In addition the artwork thats so dark and gloomy helps us know that something bad is happening.

The irony of the crow
The author showing both masks to show Eric’s character is an example of comedy and tragedy. For example it shows comedy because the author is most likely trying to show how sweet revenge can be. Like in one of the strips where he cuts one of the guys and licks the blood off the knife and smiles. Also it shows how the crow finds his revenge to be funny and enjoys hurting those that hurt him. In addition it is also tragedy because of how he came to be the crow. He got hurt by a bunch of guys that destroyed his life and hurt his soon to be bride. The author probably used two masks to show the mixed feelings Eric has and the irony of how he became the crow.

Hi I'm Mayra and I rather read then write. So far Graphic novels is a interesting class Frances is pretty funny and Chris is just Chris -,- . I'm excited to start reading all these types of comic books because their easier to read then normal books. This blog posts are gonna be interesting I guess so lets see how this goes. I've never even read a comic book to be honest, but so far it's been okay and I enjoy it more then writing an essay.
My favorite Comic book series is Bones because its funny seeing those little funny white things get into trouble. Also it's an interesting series because they always have different adventures. My favorite character in Bones is Smiley Bone because he is so funny and kind.
